ABSTRACT
This book brings together into one volume 18 previously published articles on the success of the private enterprise system. These articles were written by some of today's foremost economists, business leaders, and of the labor leaders. As would be expected, all of the articles have one thing in common, the writer's firm belief in the system of private enterprise as it operates in free Europe and in the United States.
The individual articles have been organized into seven parts, Part I, the introduction was prepared by Professor Roland W. Barlett the editor of the book. It provides a background for the 18 articles included in the seven Parts. Seven articles in Part II discuss such topics as Can Capitalism Compete?, The Growth of Competition, Free Economy Versus Planned Economy, and Myths That Keep People Hungry. The role of labor unions, cooperatives and government are included in Parts III, IV and V. The role of private enterprise in solving public problems is the theme for Part VI.
