Memorial: R. M. Hoyt 1908–1969

ABSTRACT

Richard M. Hoyt, 61, 2601 Melrose Drive, Champaign, Illinois, died December 18, 1969. Born in Poeria, Illinois, son of Robert and Dazie Hoyt, he attended the public schools there, enrolling in the University of Illinois College of Engineering at Urbana in 1926. while living in Normal, Illinois, Richard was employed by several firms from 1930 to 1941. He was plant super-intendent of the Beatrice Foods Company's milk plant in Bloomington from 1941 to 1949. In early 1949 he joined the Illinois System of Prairie Farms Creameries of Chicago as quality control fieldman. He resigned in mid-1956 to become field representative for the National Milk Producers Federation, Washington, D.C. His newly acquired responsibilities were multi-varied, serving the midwestern and southern states. During the 1950 and 1960 decades he served on national committees concerned with radioactive fallout and pesticides in milk. He was also called to Latin-American countries to assist plant operators with their processing problems.
