ABSTRACT

Dr. Ural S. Ashworth was honored by a This is Tour Life theme at a surprise retirement banquet on May 28, 1971 in Pullman, Washington.

Dr. Ashworth received his A.B. and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Missouri in 1929 and 1933. He also held a post doctorate at Yale University, was a faculty member at the University of Missouri and spent two years in the Medical School at the University of Arkansas. In 1939 he was appointed dairy chemist with the department of dairy husbandry at Washington State College. His position now is a part of the department of food science and technology.

Dr. Ashworth has written nearly 100 publications primarily on milk proteins. He is well known for his research with dried milks. He developed the whey protein test for determining the suitability of dry nonfat milk solids usage in baking. Also, he has made very important contributions
