Since his appointment as assistant in the department of animal husbandry at Cornell University in 1931 and where he obtained the Ph.D. degree in 1934, Glenn Wade Salisbury has had a distinguished career, excelling as teacher, researcher and administrator. Two universities can claim him as their own, Cornell from 1921 to 1947 and Illinois from late 1947 to the present time.
Dr. Salisbury's research in animal fertility and reproduction is documented in more than 100 scientific publications. The quality of his work was recognized by a national committee of his peers who selected him, at the age 35, for the American Dairy Science Association's Borden Award in 1945. A similar committee selected him for the American Society of Animal Science's F. B. Morrison Award in 1964.
He has also combined teaching with research and administration, having received special praise for his work in organizing and teaching an undergraduate honors seminar.
