Personal Philosophy About Teaching

C. F. Foreman

Department of Animal Science Dairy Science Iowa State University, Ames 50010

ABSTRACT

Few people are great teachers. I hope I belong to the group who have taught well. I do not expect my students to remember me as a man of great wisdom. I do hope that when they need help they will remember some of the things I told them. and that they remember me as a friend. Love is, in this instance, too strong a word to apply to the individual, but as a group I love my students and I hope this love is reciprocated in a warm feeling when they reflect on our association. These are personal things and I say them only because I believe they are important to the individual who is dedicating his life to the serving of others.

I do not know if I am a successful teacher. I do know that I am happy in my work and I do not see how anyone can be successful if he is not happy.
