ABSTRACT

The fact that Dr. Eaton was nominated for the University of Connecticut Alumni Award for Faculty Excellence in Research is in itself an indication of the esteem with which his colleagues in the Department of Nutritional Sciences hold him. The award of $1,000.00 and a plaque was presented to Dr. Eaton at the Alumni Council banquet on April 17, 1971. Dr. Eaton started his academic career at Johns Hopkins University in an accelerated program in 1935. His undergraduate training was completed in 1939 at Stanford and Iowa State College. He received the M.S. degree from Rutgers University in 1941 and the Ph.D. degree from Cornell University in 1947, experiencing a four-year interruption for service in the U.S. Army which was spent in the African-European area of operations.

Dr. Eaton came to the University of Connecticut in 1947 as assistant professor. He was promoted to associate professor in 1950 and professor in 1956.
