ABSTRACT
All biological phenomena are migratory—be they soil, seeds, pollen, insects, birds, mammals or applied chemicals. Even chemicals that are very water insoluble or that become strongly complexed with soil and organic materials can be eroded away by wind and water.
The answer in many cases is to use compounds that degrade within an acceptable period of time. But long action is often a necessary and desirable characteristic of a chemical and means must be found to minimize escape from treated areas rather than abandoning the chemical itself.
