Dr. James Edward Legates has been named Dean of Agriculture and Life Sciences at North Carolina State University. Dr. Legates, 48, came to North Carolina State University in 1949. He has served in the department of animal science as assistant professor (1949-51), associate professor (1951-54), professor (1954), and William Neal Reynolds Professor since 1958. From 1955 to 1958 he was acting head of the dairy husbandry Section, and since 1958 has been head of the animal breeding section.
