Dr. Bruno Reiter, principal scientific officer, National Institute for Research in Dairying, Shinfield, England, will be a visiting scientist beginning February 1 for one semester in the department of food science, University of Illinois, Urbana.
Dr. Reiter will present 14 seminars on selected topics of interest to food science graduate students. These lectures will be on cheese ripening and development of flavor in Cheddar cheese, mastitic milk and immunological techniques. Training Grant FD-0004, U.S. Public Health Service, provides funds for Dr. Reiter's appointment.
Dr. Reiter, an internationally known dairy bacteriologist, along with associates at the National Institute for Research in Dairying, with their reference flora technique have made unique contributions to our knowledge of the bacteriology of cheese ripening.
Since Dr. Reiter has an international reputation and is well known in the United States, he has received invitations to present seminars at a number of universities and commercial laboratories.
