ABSTRACT
Dr. Lassiter, Dr. Loosli, Dean Boger, members of the American Dairy Science Association and guests. As one who has had a lifetime of involvement in the Michigan dairy industry, as well as a similar association with Michigan State University, I also welcome you as members of this distinguished organization to our state university in which we take great pride. We sincerely hope you have a profitable meeting and a most enjoyable time during your visit here.
I feel compelled to preface my remarks with a confession. When I accepted this assignment, I did not realize how meager my ability was to prepare a presentation to such a distinguished body. The program committee suggested a broad, brief review of changes in milk marketing. Believing that many of you either were or were about to become involved about two decades ago, I shall quickly survey these developments.
Production. Production statistics for the dairy industry are impressive for the years, 1950 through 1970, especially for the changes that have occurred.
