ABSTRACT
The sixth edition of ANIMAL SCIENCE is a revised and expanded edition. Sixteen new chapters have been added, and the author has emphasized the business aspects of animal agriculture. He has also taken into consideration the needs of combined courses which incorporate animal science, dairy science, and poultry science.
In addition to being an excellent book for use as a text in the combined course, ANIMAL SCIENCE could also be considered an elementary encyclopedia of animal agriculture. It could also be used as a handbook for livestock producers.
Chapter VII in the book is devoted exclusively to the business aspects of animal science. It explains how and why animal production should be treated as a business rather than a backyard hobby, as many businessmen believe it is.
In writing the book Dr. Ensminger has presented considerable data in tabular or chart form. This would make the book valuable as a reference which would be extremely helpful in preparing a speech, or for any other use where tabular or chart data are needed.
