The Second World Conference on Animal Production was held in July, 1968, at the University of Maryland, College Park, Maryland. Representatives of 58 countries attended the sessions. The opening session was devoted to addresses of welcome and to the Keynote Address. General Sessions 2 through 8 were devoted to the following general topics: Use of animals in producing foods; use of land and crop resources in animal production; gaps in knowledge on animal production and approaches to solutions; achieving improvements in selection for quantity and quality of animal products through performance recording; increasing the role of milk and milk-products in meeting world food needs; educational challenges in animal production. Part I, More highly developed countries; Part II, Developing countries.
