ABSTRACT

On October 13 in Columbus, Ohio, in traditional Guest of Honor Dairy Shrine Club ceremony, Dr. Earl Weaver's portrait was unveiled, bringing to 27 the number so honored since 1949. Professor Emeritus and former Head of the dairy department at Michigan State University, he is widely known for his contributions to the dairy industry through teaching, published research work in foreign countries, and dairy cattle judging.

Dr. Weaver was born on July 27, 1893, on a farm near Brazil, in Clay County, Indiana, in the same house where his father was born in 1870. He attended rural school there until the family moved to El Reno, Oklahoma, in 1902, where he attended two other rural schools and high school.

In 1913 Weaver received the B.S. degree from Oklahoma A & M College; in 1917 he received the M.S. degree from Iowa State College; and 19 years later he enrolled at the University of Minnesota and received the Ph.D. degree in 1938.
