ABSTRACT
Research on dairy products is conducted at 46 of the 53 state agricultural experimentstations; Eastern Utilization Research and Development Division at Wyndmoor, Pennsylvania, and Washington, D.C., and the Market Quality Research Division, all of which are part of the Agricultural Research Service.
Man Power
There are 124 scientist-man-years conducting research in the broad area of new and improved milk products (1). The experiment stations have 60 scientist-man-years; the USDA 59 inhouse, and six in the form of contracts and grants at universities. In addition, there are 19 scientist-man-years in the area of Market Quality Research, of which 14 are in the experiment stations and five in the Market Quality Research Division.
Support
In terms of financial support for dairy products research, the experiment stations spent in 1966 $2,273,723 on new and improved products, and $521,117 on market quality. The U.S. Department of Agriculture spent $1,994,361 on new and improved products, and $182,880 for market quality.
