Metabolism of Banvel-D Herbicide in a Dairy Cow

L. E. St. John, Jr. and D. J. Lisk

Pesticide Residue Laboratory, Department of Entomology, Cornell University, Ithaca, New York

ABSTRACT

A study of the metabolism of the herbicide, Banvel-D-(2-methoxy-3,6-dichlorobenzoio acid), in a dairy cow is reported. At 5 ppm in the feed no residues were detected in milk or feces. Excretion of the intact compound in the urine accounted for 73% of the total ingested. Analyses were made by electron affinity gas chromatography of the methylated herbicide acid.
