ABSTRACT

A permanent rumen cannula for use in fistulated cattle is described. The cannula is constructed of acrylic resin and consists of the main stem, inner and outer rings, cap, and a polyurethane collar or cushion of a pliable nature. The main stem is threaded to accommodate a screw cap and to permit adjustment of the outer ring according to the condition of the animal. This type of cannula allows minimal loss of rumen liquor and permits maximal comfort of the animal.
