Solids Distribution in a Milk Smear Containing Algal-14C-Protein

ABSTRACT

Algal-14C-Protein, an isotope similar in nature to a main milk component, was added to milk to provide additional data in evaluating the uniformity of a milk smear. Measurement of the proportional radioactivity across the smear revealed a gradual increase in solids deposition from the center to the periphery. This supports earlier findings when glycine-2-14C was used.
