Lynn Copeland, Assistant Dairy Husbandman, University of Tennessee, died on November 12, 1967, at Baptist Hospital, Nashville, Tennessee, at the age of 69. Funeral services were held November 14 at Calvary Methodist Church in Nashville.
A native of Sharpsburg, Iowa, he was reared on a farm in Central Kansas. He graduated from Kansas State University in 1922. He was a member of the Kansas State Dairy Cattle Judging Team that placed first in all breeds at the National Intercollegiate Contest in 1922.
In 1923 he received his M.S. degree in Dairy Husbandry from South Dakota State College and served on its Dairy Department staff as Assistant Professor until June, 1926. He was an inspiring teacher and made learning infectious. During his last quarter-year of teaching at South Dakota, he helped train a dairy cattle judging team that won first place in all breeds at the 1926 National Intercollegiate Student Judging Contest in Detroit, Michigan.
