Robert H. Lush, retired Professor of Dairying of The University of Tennesee, died November 24, 1967, at The University of Tennessee Memorial Hospital, Knoxville, after a two-month illness due to a heart ailment. He was 68 years old. Prior to his retirement in 1965, Professor Lush had been on the staff at The University of Tennessee for 18 years, where he specialized in teaching and research in the field of dairy cattle breeding and management. His research had been directed toward the development of high-producing cows under conditions of optimum forage utilization.
R. H. Lush was born April 10, 1899, in Shambaugh, Iowa. His B.S. in Agriculture degree was conferred in 1921 by Kansas State College, where he majored in Animal and Dairy Husbandry and was a member of the National Championship Dairy Cattle Judging Team. He was Assistant Dairy Extension Specialist in Kansas from 1921 to 1929, with two years off for graduate studies at Minnesota and Wisconsin.
