ABSTRACT

D. K. Nelson Appointed to Washington Staff

Dr. D. Kent Nelson, 28, has joined the Animal Sciences staff of Washington State University's College of Agriculture as assistant professor and assistant dairy scientist.

Dr. Nelson comes to Washington from Iowa State University, Ames, where he earned the PhD degree in November 1967, having been a teaching assistant and research associate there since 1965. His doctoral research was on the absorption of nutrients from various segments of the gastrointestinal tract. Research for his master's thesis was on protein quality in calf starters.

The new dairy scientist earned the M.S. degree at Michigan State University in Animal Nutrition in 1964, the B.S. degree in Dairy Production at Colorado State University, Fort Collins, in 1961. He is a member of Sigma Xi, science honorary, and Gamma Sigma Delta, agriculture honorary.

C. T. Hearld Moves to New Position

Dr. C. T. Hearld, a graduate of the Pennsylvania State and Michigan State Universities with a B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees in Dairy Chemistry, has been appointed director of marketing for the David Michael & Company.
