ABSTRACT
There were 336 research papers, 40 symposium papers, 18 industry papers, and 356 abstracts published in Volume 51 of the JOURNAL during 1968. Volume 50 for 1967 contained 334 research papers, 23 symposium papers, 8 industry papers, and 394 abstracts (Table 1).
Symposia presented at the Sixty-third Annual Meeting of our Association will be published in Volume 52.
Quality of Papers
There has been much improvement in the quality and writing of papers submitted for publication. Editing time is being decreased and eventually editing costs will be decreased greatly. Authors have been very cooperative in revising papers as suggested by the Editorial Staff.
Areas Needing More Research
Papers in Volume 51 and in previous volumes of the JOURNAL, indicate that our scientists are attempting to resolve problems involving quality improvement of dairy products, feeding, forages, genetics, lactation, management, milk composition, physiology, and reproduction. Nevertheless, it is this writer's opinion that four other areas should receive more research attention.
1 Presented in abbreviated form to the Executive Board at the Sixty-third Annual Meeting of the American Dairy Science Association, The Ohio State University, Columbus, June 1968.
