Extension's Responsibility to Breed Club Record Programs

George Hyatt, Jr.

Agricultural Extension Service, North Carolina State University, Raleigh

ABSTRACT

All service-type programs are being carefully scrutinized by University officials. I believe such programs as DHIA will continue to receive support, if there is an educational product which gives sound guidance to all dairymen and the industry. I believe the need for breed associations, the USDA, and Extension working closely together is greater than ever before. The problems we have to work out are not insurmountable and through mutual understanding, trust, and integrity, commercial dairymen and purebred breeders have much to gain by working together with their universities, as they have in the past.
