ABSTRACT

Professor Nikolaus King Honored

On October 3, 1966, Dr. Hartmann, the German Consul-General in Melbourne, Australia, presented a commemorative document and medal to Professor Nikolaus King. The text of the document follows:

THE SOCIETY OF PATRONS AND FRIENDS OF THE FEDERAL RESEARCH INSTITUTE FOR DAIRY PRODUCTS IN KIEL, GERMANY, BESTOW ON PROFESSOR NIKOLAUS KING, MASTER OF CHEMISTRY, IN APPRECIATION OF HIS GREAT SCIENTIFIC ACCOMPLISHMENTS IN PHYSICS AND CHEMISTRY OF MILK AND MILK PRODUCTS, THE PROFESSOR HERMANN WEIGMANN COMMEMORATIVE SILVER MEDAL. DURING HIS FORTY YEARS OF SCIENTIFIC ACTIVITY, FIRST IN VARIOUS EUROPEAN RESEARCH STATIONS AND LATER IN THE DAIRY DIVISION OF THE AUSTRALIAN COMMONWEALTH SCIENTIFIC AND INDUSTRIAL RESEARCH ORGANIZATION IN HIGHETT, VICTORIA, HE HAS DEALT WITH RESEARCH ON THE MICROSTRUCTURE OF MILK, BUTTER, AND CHEESE, AND HE HAS CONSTANTLY EXPANDED SCIENTIFIC KNOWLEDGE THROUGH NEW RESEARCH METHODS. THE RESULTS OF HIS FUNDAMENTAL RESEARCH HAVE BEEN VERY USEFUL TO THE INTERNATIONAL DAIRY INDUSTRY BECAUSE OF ITS GREAT PRACTICAL IMPORTANCE.
