Dr. Willis Alonzo King, Professor and Head of the Department of Dairy Science at Clemson University, was recently honored at the annual meeting of the Southern Section of ADSA in New Orleans for distinguished service to the dairy industry in the South. He was presented a plaque and a citation which read, "THE RESEARCH, TEACHING, ADMINISTRATIVE, AND EXTENSION efforts of Dr. King have been instrumental in ADVANCING THE DAIRY INDUSTRY OF HIS STATE, REGION, AND COUNTRY."
Dr. King has held positions at Wisconsin (1936–40), Rutgers (1940–45), Purdue (1945–48), and has been at Clemson since 1949. He became Head of the Department in 1963.
Dr. King, a native of Due West, South Carolina, earned the B.S. degree in dairy science at Clemson, and the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees at the University of Wisonsin. He is a past chairman of the Clemson Research Faculty council. He has held responsible offices in the Southern Division, having served as Secretary-Treasurer, Vice President, and President (1965).
