E. V. Ellington 1889–1967

ABSTRACT

Professor E. V. Ellington, 78, long-time faculty member at Washington State University and leader in the state's dairy industry, died from an apparent heart attack at his home in Pullman, Monday evening, February 6. Death occurred two days before his 79th birthday. Funeral services were held at St. James Episcopal Church, Pullman, on February 8.

"E. V." or "Prof" as he was known to hundreds of his dairy students had been on the WSU faculty for more than 30 years prior to his retirement in 1953. At that time he was director of the Cooperative Extension Service. He had been in that position since 1946. Prior to that he had been head of the WSU dairy department since 1922. For a portion of that time he had also been vice-director of the agricultural experiment station and vice-dean of the College of Agriculture.

He came to WSU from the U.S. Department of Agriculture where he had worked for six years in charge of a western regional dairy office in Salt Lake City and as federal Extension dairy specialist.
