ABSTRACT

Borden Executive Dies

Theodore Giles Montague, former President, Director and Chairman of the Borden Company, died August 13 at his home in Greenwich, Connecticut. He was 69 years old.

Born in La Crosse, Wis., he interrupted his studies at the University of Wisconsin to serve with the Naval Air Service during World War I. In 1919 he started as a clerk in the evaporated milk industry becoming an executive in 1926 of the Valecia Evaporated Milk Company at Madison, Wisconsin.

He was president of the Kennedy Dairy Company in Madison when it was acquired by the Borden Company in 1928. He came to New York City in 1934 as general manager of Borden's milk operations and was later named a vice president of the company. He became President of the Borden Company in 1937, at the age of 39, serving in that capacity until 1955. He was elected chairman of the board of the company in 1956, holding that post until retirement in 1964.
