ABSTRACT

The serum ß-globulin (transferrin), {alpha}s1-casein, ß-casein, and ß-lactoglobulin types of 58 individual cows in one herd of the Canadian breed were studied by means of polyacrylamide-gel electrophoresis in a discontinuous buffer system. The distributions of genotypes for each of the proteins were as follows: serum transferrin—3 A/A, 27 D/D, 13 A/D, 4 A/E, and 11 D/E; {alpha}s1-casein—51 B/B, 1 C/C, and 6 B/C; ß-casein—28 A/A, 4 B/B, and 26 A/B; ß-lactoglobulin—15 A/A, 14 B/B, and 29 A/B.
