Erskine M. Harmon 1895–1965

ABSTRACT

Erskine Mortimer Harmon died of a heart attack at Hendersonville, North Carolina, November 4, 1965 and was buried in the Hillcrest Cemetery at Mountain Grove, Missouri, on November 7.

Mr. Harmon, the eldest of nine children, was born to Oscar Guy and Eva Minnie (Titt) Harmon, near White City, Kansas on January 12, 1895. In 1903 the family moved to Rayborn, Missouri, and 1906 to Mountain Grove. He was married to Gladys M. Dye of Rockville, Missouri, on April 29, 1919. Survivors include his wife, of the home; a daughter, Mrs. Carol R. Dick (Betty Louise), Decatur, Illinois; two sons, Donald Laurence Harmon, M.D., a surgeon, Louisville, Kentucky, and Dr. Elmer Meredith Harmon, a vice-president of the Bowery Bank in New York City, Leonia, New Jersey; a brother, Dr. Laurence G. Harmon, Professor of Food Science, Michigan State University, East Lansing; three sisters, Miss Gladys Harmon, Kansas City, Kansas; Mrs. K. Myrl Kennedy (Esther), Pleasanton, Kansas; and Mrs. Sidney A. Richmond (Bessie L.) California, Missouri; and eleven grandchildren.

In high school Mr. Harmon was active in the Literary Society and was a member of the debating team.
