C. V. Christiansen 1901–1965

C. Valdemar Christiansen, Director of Laboratories for Bowman Dairy Company, Chicago, passed away on May 12, 1965, at Chicago's Presbyterian-St. Luke's Hospital.

Mr. Christiansen was born in Chicago on November 12, 1901, and graduated from Chicago's Lake View High School. "Christy," as he was affectionately known to his many friends, began working as a laboratory technician for Bowman Dairy during the summer of 1922 and 1923 while a student at the University of Illinois. Upon his graduation in 1924, he returned to Bowman for forty-one years of dedicated and meritorious service to his company and the dairy industry.

For many years an active member of the American Dairy Science Association, he was serving on the Association's Education Committee at the time of his passing. He was a Past President of the Chicago Dairy Technology Society; a member of the International Association of Milk and Food Sanitarians; a member of the Grade A Advisory Board to the Illinois Department of Public Health.
