ABSTRACT
The Commonwealth of Kentucky admitted to the union as the 15th state in 1792, and the University of Kentucky established in 1865, and its fine staff were most gracious hosts for the 60th Annual Meeting of the American Dairy Science Association.
The University of Kentucky, a land-grant institution, has a strong liberal arts tradition. It has 11 colleges including law, medicine, pharmacy, dentistry, nursing, and an outstanding college of agriculture and an experiment station.
During this year its centennial anniversary, the University administration has encouraged national meetings on the campus. The American Dairy Science Association was fortunate in having been one of those invited to the Kentucky campus.
The impressive Kentucky country side with its split rail and wooden fences, the blue grass, the parks, streams and recreational facilities, fine cattle, beautiful horses, and home-like farms, all seemed to harmonize with Stephen Foster's famous song, My Old Kentucky Home.
