On February 2, 1965, at the Annual Meeting at Dallas, Texas, The Southern Division of the American Dairy Science Association honored D. W. Seath for distinguished service to the dairy industry of the South.
Dwight Moody Seath was born December 19. 1903 on a dairy farm at Freeborn, Minnesota. and attended the Freeborn public schools. He attended Iowa State University, where he received the B.S. degree in 1926. He was granted the M.S. degree in 1930 by Kansas State University, and remained with this institution for nine years, serving as Extension Specialist in Dairy Husbandry.
In 1939 the recipient of this award was granted the Ph.D. degree by Iowa State University. In the same year he received a call from the South and accepted appointment as Associate Dairy Husbandman at Louisiana State University, later being promoted to Dairy Husbandman and given the responsibility of directing the Dairy Research program.
After serving in Louisiana for nine years. Dr. Seath was induced to move north.
