ABSTRACT
There were 233 research papers, 92 technical notes, 6 industry papers, 22 symposium papers, 363 abstracts, and 3 book reviews published in Volume 48 of the JOURNAL for 1965, (Table 1). These exceeded all similar categories for Volume 47.2 Increased numbers of papers, also were received from abroad. This trend is likely to continue because membership in the Association is not necessary to qualify to have papers published in the JOURNAL. Nonmembers every where are invited and urged to submit scientific papers for consideration for publication.
QUALITY OF PAPERS
The quality of papers continues to improve. Nevertheless, some authors give too little attention to writing and to the extent that a number of papers, when first submitted, are not acceptable. With more rapid and efficient methods for obtaining research data, there is a tendency for authors to submit papers for publication before the results have been critically evaluated. Some authors are not nearly as precise and critical of their writings as they are of their laboratory procedures.
1 Submitted in abbreviated form to the Executive Board at the 60th Annual Meeting of the Association, University of Kentucky, Lexington, June 1965.
