ABSTRACT
This is the second edition of a well-known collection of both qualitative and quantitative analytical methods which originally appeared twenty years ago. The methods presented are, for the most part, the standard, time-honored procedures which seldom, if ever, become obsolete. They include noninstrumental analyses as well as some instrumental techniques.
The book is not written as a college text, yet it contains basic instructions in laboratory techniques, equipment, and the preparation of common reagents. The style is easy to follow and the desired information is easily located. As the title of the book implies, the contents are of primary interest to chemists performing commercial analyses, but the research worker will surely also find it a ready and authoritative source for a multitude of tests.
The analytical procedures given are applicable in practically all industries. A wealth of information is presented in 39 chapters on the analyses of metals and alloys, fats, soaps, lubricants, waxes, paints, pigments, rubber, coal, paper, sugar, petroleum products, and other materials.
