ABSTRACT
Conclusion: The polymorphisms discussed provide genetic markers and make the possibility of chromosome mapping in large animals seem more real. They will help us to trace the evolution of modern breeds of cattle. They provide material for studies of the mechanisms of gene action in the synthesis of proteins. Table 1 shows a summary of the major ones studied. Taken together with new discoveries, they will certainly provide us with a greater understanding of the complex genetic influence that we know to be important in controlling variation in some economically important traits.
