On February 4, 1964, at their Annual Meeting at Atlanta, Georgia, the Southern Division of the American Dairy Science Association honored Lynn Copeland, for distinguished service to the dairy industry of the South, with the following eulogy.
Lynn Copeland was born on a farm near Sharpsburg, Iowa. When he was seven years of age, his family moved to Central Kansas. He attended Kansas public schools and was graduated from Kansas State University with a degree in Agriculture in 1922. He was a member of the Kansas State Dairy Cattle Judging Team, placing first in judging all-breeds at the National Intercollegiate Judging Contest in 1922.
In 1923, he received his M.S. in Dairy Husbandry from South Dakota State College and served on the staff of the South Dakota State Dairy Department as an Assistant Professor until June, 1926.
From 1926 to 1941, Mr. Copeland served as Superintendent of Production Testing for the American Jersey Cattle Club.
