E. T. Itschner Retires
The Board of Curators at the University of Missouri, in honoring his application for retirement and in recognizing his outstanding contributions, conferred on E. T. ITSCHNER the title, Professor Emeritus of Dairy Husbandry.
On December 21 Professor Itschner cleared his desk and closed a 42-year career at the University of Missouri, where he served as assistant county agent, county agent, 4-H Club leader, and was promoted through all ranks to Extension Professor of Dairy Husbandry in July, 1953. He joined the University Extension Staff in 1921 and had the longest service of any of the staff in Missouri.
Professor Itschner's accomplishments are many, but two projects have engaged most of his time; namely, the 4-H Club and DHIA activities. One of his 4-H judging teams represented Missouri in national competition in 1924 at Syracuse, New York. When he assumed responsibility for DHIA work in 1942, there were 7,900 cows under DHIA supervision, with an average production of 7,500 lb of milk and 330 lb of milk fat.
