Frank E. De La Croix was born July 27, 1912, New Trenton, Indiana, on a farm in the southern part of the state. Here, he received his grade school education and attended the Whitewater High School at Cedar Grove, Indiana, graduating in 1931.
After spending some time operating a farm with his father, C. J. De La Croix, from 1930 to 1934, he entered Purdue University School of Agriculture, West Lafayette, Indiana, and graduated with a B.A. degree in 1939. De La Croix was then employed by Sears Roebuck and Company, Chicago, Illinois, as a buyer in the Farm Department from 1939 through 1941.
At this time lie returned to Indiana as Assistant County Agricultural Agent, Benton County, Fowler, Indiana, a position which he held from 1941 through 1943.
He then was appointed County Agricultural Agent of Jasper County, Rensselaer, Indiana, and served in this position the last half of 1943 through 1945.
