ABSTRACT
Ground corn cobs were compared with ground hay in one trial and chopped hay in a second trial when each comprised 20% of the ration. Teed intake, milk production, and milk composition were measured. Ground corn cobs were a better roughage than ground hay and equal to chopped hay for maintaining feed intake and milk production. At 20% of the ration, none of these roughages maintained the pretrial milk fat concentrations.
