ABSTRACT

Arthur Henry White

Arthur Henry White, known everywhere as Art, was such an active, vigorous type that everyone expected him to outdo his father, who lived to be 94. Consequently his many friends from coast to coast found it hard to believe when they heard he had passed away suddenly on November 29, 1963. Shortly before, he had appeared to be in vigorous health, with 18 holes of golf for his daily recreation.

Art, a son of the manse, was born April 13, 1892, in Victoria British Columbia. Habits of hard work and thrift were developed early. He put himself through college by working in dairy plants in the Fraser Valley, taking the Dairying option at the Ontario Agricultural College and receiving his B.S.A. degree from the University of Toronto in 1917. Enlisting at once, he saw active service in France and Belgium with the Canadian Expeditionary Force. Back in Canada he was appointed Field Supervisor for British Columbia under the Soldier Settlement Board, but that same year took the position of Senior Dairy Promoter in the Dominion Dairy and Cold Storage Branch at Ottawa.
