ABSTRACT

Sidney L. Spahr Appointed to Illinois Position

Sidney L. Spahr assumed his duties as assistant professor of Dairy Husbandry in Dairy Science at the University of Illinois on September 1, 1964. He will be conducting research in dairy cattle management in the Department of Dairy Science.

Before coming to Illinois, Dr. Spahr conducted research work at Pennsylvania State University on the factors affecting peak intake by high producing dairy cows. He studied the proportion of grain in various diets and the treatment of corn silage with limestone for dairy cattle. In addition to his research duties he also helped teach the dairy cattle judging course at Penn State and helped with other dairy production courses.

In 1956 Dr. Spahr was 4-H achievement winner in the state of Virginia. He was also a member of the 4-H dairy judging team representing Virginia in the National Judging Contest and he is also a member of the Virginia Polytechnic Institute dairy judging team.
