ABSTRACT
Although the trend toward larger dairies is an undeniable one, size in itself is not a solution to all of the problems of the dairy industry. Where area for expansion and quality cattle are available, increased size can result in increased efficiency in many cases. The much quoted statement: Get good before you get big (6) applies everywhere. There is no place in today's dairy picture for the inefficient dairy farm, whether it be large or small.
