Dr. Frank X. Gassner, noted Colorado State University endocrinologist, died recently at his Fort Collins, Colorado, home. Death of the 67-year-old scientist was believed due to a heart attack.
Surviving are Mrs. Gassner, Fort Collins, and two daughters, Ingrid Gassner, Denver, and Frances Gassner, San Diego, California.
A long-time member of the CSU staff, Dr. Gassner was known internationally as one of the world's foremost authorities on infertility and reproduction problems of livestock. Much of his work was also associated with similar problems in human medicine.
He had also conducted extensive research on the effects of hormone implants and estrogen feed additives on growth rates of cattle.
Born at Munich, Germany, on January 12, 1896, Dr. Gassner was graduated from the University of Munich in 1916 with a D.Sc. degree in chemistry. He received his D.V.M, degree from Colorado State University in 1937 and an M.S. degree from the University of Colorado, Boulder, in 1944.
His career at Colorado State University began in 1937 as an assistant professor and pathologist in the College of Veterinary Medicine.
