ABSTRACT

Dairy Building Named in Honor of Dr. Roadhouse

The Dairy Industry Building on the University of California's campus has been named in honor of Professor Emeritus CHESTER L. ROADHOUSE.

Chester L. Roadhouse Hall, known for 40 years as the Dairy Industry Building, honors the former head of the dairy industry division on the campus and a member of the UC faculty for 40 years.

During the 27 years he was chairman, the division of dairy industry greatly expanded. One of the contributions of his division was the close relationship developed between the university and industry.

Technically trained men were constantly supplied to the dairy manufacturing plants in the state. Short courses held annually brought large numbers of men in the field into contact with staff and student body.

Dairy Industry is now part of the Department of Food Science and Technology at Davis.

In research, Dr. Roadhouse was particularly interested in milk flavors.
