American Dairy Science Association Representation at the World Conference on Animal Production

ABSTRACT

Under the theme of, Efficiency of Animal Production, a World Conference on animal production is being sponsored in 1963 by the Food and Agricultural Organization as a part of the World Freedom from Hunger Campaign. The American Dairy Science Association decided a year ago to participate in the conference. The other participating organization is the American Society for Animal Production. The program objective is to bring together prominent specialists to discuss six areas of animal production problems. The various topics are:

  1. The necessity of denning needs and establishing priorities for solution of animal production problems, taking into consideration the needs of human nutrition.
  2. Limitations to efficiency imposed by inadequate nutrition, with particular reference to feed resources.
  3. Influence of breeding on production efficiency.
  4. Physiological limitations on reproductive performance.
  5. The potential for increasing efficiency of feed utilization through newer knowledge of animal nutrition.
    1. Milk production in cattle
