ABSTRACT
There were 190 Research Papers, 35 Technical Notes, 13 Industry Papers, 41 Symposium Papers, 37 Association Papers, 335 Abstracts, and 5 Book Reviews published in Volume 45 of the JOURNAL OF DAIRY SCIENCE for 1962. Total papers were slightly above the number published in 1961 (Table 1).
The two-column format was adopted with the January issue for 1962. This format required only 1,844 pages for Volume 45 in 1962, as compared to 2,564 pages for Volume 44 in 1961. The Editorial Board has been very helpful in pinpointing areas where papers could be shortened. Authors have responded to suggestions to revise and condense their research, resulting in papers of improved quality and decreased publication costs.
FOREIGN CONSIDERATIONS
The prospects are dim for the birth of new specialized journals in Dairy Science and Technology in the undeveloped nations because of the small amount of specialization and the lack of papers and finances to support new journals.
1 Report submitted to the Executive Board at the 58th Annual Meeting of the American Dairy Science Association, Purdue University, Lafayette, Indiana, 1963.
