International Relations Committee of the American Dairy Science Association, Animal Husbandry Research Division, USDA, Beltsville, Maryland
ABSTRACT
INTRODUCTION
This symposium was organized by the International Relations Committee of the American Dairy Science Assocation to provide a better understanding among the membership of the programs, activities, and problems of the United States foreign aid and assistance programs as they relate to dairy science and education. Included in this review also is a presentation of the activities of the Food and Agricultural Organization (FAO) in the field of dairy science and education, especially as it applies to developing countries.
It was believed that a consideration of the scope and status of this government's activities in foreign countries, and a review of progress and some of the problems encountered in our attempts to be of service to these countries, would not only interest the members in this activity but also leave them better informed regarding this country's programs as they relate to dairy science and education.
1 Presented at the 58th Annual Meeting of the American Dairy Science Association, Purdue University, Lafayette, Indiana, June, 1963.
