ABSTRACT

American Oil Chemists' Society Announces Fall Convention

The Annual Convention of the American Oil Chemists' Society will be held in Toronto, Canada, October 1–4, 1962. This marks the first time the meetings have been held outside the United States, and plans are under way to give the occasion an international flavor. Papers are still being solicited, and some special features are being planned, including an international symposium on the role of fats and oils in nutrition.

In addition to the A.O.C.S. members, attendance by others with allied interests is welcomed. Inquiries are invited, and should be addressed to The American Oil Chemists' Society, 35 East Wacker Drive, Chicago 1, Illinois.

12th ANNUAL INSTRUMENT SYMPOSIUM AND RESEARCH EQUIPMENT EXHIBIT

An Instrument Symposium on Recent Developments in Research Methods and Instrumentation will be held October 8–12, 1962, at the National Institutes of Health, Bethesda 14, Maryland.

Primary discussion topics on the scientific program include: Thin Film and Gas Chromatography; Ion Exchange Techniques; Nuclear Magnetic Resonance; Optical Masers; Vacuum Ultraviolet; X-ray Microscopy; Automation in Chemical and Biochemical Research; Physiological Monitoring; and X-ray Diffraction Studies of Proteins.
