ABSTRACT
This book was first published in 1945, about 7 yr. after the advent of artificial insemination in the United States, and has been revised three times, 1947, 1952, and 1960. Since its original printing, the quantity of data concerning artificial insemination, accumulated through continued research, has increased manyfold. The third edition contains much new information (21 chapters written by 15 well-known authors) that reflects the latest experimental findings of researchers throughout the world and presents it in a well-organized and in an easily understood way.
Perhaps the main attribute of this book is that it is pointed toward the practical application of scientific findings and principles. Because of its practical approach, this book is excellent for use by livestock breeders, managers and technicians of artificial breeding organizations, veterinarians, students, and teachers. This should not detract from the fact that it is also a good book for graduate students and researchers as a starting place for a review of literature in this field.
