ABSTRACT
The fertility of bull semen was not affected by the addition of progesterone and estrogen in amounts as high as 5,000 and 200 µg. per milliliter of extended semen, respectively. No effect could be demonstrated on the motility of semen treated with these hormones up to two days of storage at 5° C. Increased levels of progesterone (10,000 µg. per milliliter of extend semen) reduced the motility of semen after two days of storage. There was some indication that adding 5,000 µg. of progesterone in combination with 200 µg. of estrogen per milliliter of extended semen may have altered the sex ratio of the resulting calves, increasing the proportion of males.
