ABSTRACT
This book, written in German and based on the author's interest and several years of experience, treats the practical aspects of artificial insemination rather completely. The first section of the book is devoted to the genital tract of the bull, and to semen and its collection, examination, dilution, and preservation. Part Two deals with the anatomy and functioning of the reproductive organs of the cow, insemination procedures, and fertility results. In the third section, the role of artificial insemination in cattle breeding is covered from the historical standpoint, from the standpoint of its advantages and disadvantages, in connection with bull selection and proving, and in relation to the necessary governmental controls. Part Four deals with the establishment and organization of artificial insemination stations. The last two sections are devoted to the daily routines involved in the collection, laboratory processing, and shipping of semen.
The author has done an excellent job of covering the broad aspects for managers and employees of artificial breeding organizations under European conditions.
